What's Good for the Goose…

Tavern at the Park hosts an inventive beer dinner with Goose Island Beer Co.

Chicago's favorite local brewery, Goose Island Beer Company, has teamed up with Tavern at the Park for an imaginative beer dinner to be held Tuesday, Jan. 27. The festive, five-course menu was dreamed up by chef de cuisine Mike Cisternino and paired with crowd-pleasers and seasonal selections from Goose Island's portfolio.

The first course, dubbed "3-1-2 Leagues Under the Sea" (someone had some fun with the course names), kicks things off with a seared diver scallop and mussels steamed in Goose Island's signature 312 Urban Wheat. The second course, "Pan's Kind of Salad," pairs mixed greens with endive, toasted almonds and dried cherries and a crispy goat cheese medallion with Goose's Mild Winter Ale. "From Russia, With Love," the third course, offers sauteed sturgeon and steamed clams in a garlic-saffron fumet with Matilda, a Belgian-inspired brew. The fourth course, "East Meets Midwest," is spicy orange short ribs with sauteed Japanese green beans and crispy rice noodles, paired with the Nut Brown Ale. And, for the finale, you'll get "Fig in a Blanket," a poached black mission fig with gorgonzola and dark chocolate ganache in a puff pastry. The dessert course will be accompanied by Goose Island's Oatmeal Stout. We're salivating already.

The dinner starts at 6:30PM and costs $60 per person. Call Tavern at the Park at 312-552-0070 to make a reservation.
