What You're Doing Tonight: January 15

A cultural exploration, indie rock from Brooklyn and Gilbert Gottfried live

ACT GLOBALLY: Join the "Jewish Pavarotti," Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi, and David Chevan and the Afro-Semitic Experience, an ensemble from Connecticut (of all places) that rocks everything from gospel to klezmer to jazz, after the free Community-Wide African Art & Kosher Food Fair at the Anshe Emet Synagogue in Lakeview. The event will benefit Mazon, a charitable organization fighting hunger. The fair begins at 5PM, and the concert starts at 7:30PM. Tickets for the concert are $25-$40.

RAWK 'N' ROLL: Earnest indie rockers The Hold Steady play the House of Blues tonight with dependable Audioslave axe man Tom Morello opening. Wear your best flannel. 8:30PM, $29-$48.

DIRTY JOKES: Perpetually annoyed comedian Gilbert Gottfried brings his unique stand-up act (and his infamous smirk) to Zanies Comedy Club in Old Town tonight. If the sound of fingers on a chalkboard bothers you, you might want to skip this one. 8:30PM, $25, plus two item food/drink minimum.
