What You're Doing Tonight: January 23

The Art Institute "After Dark," steamy Brazilian beats and a spirited benefit

GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION: The Art Institute's popular "After Dark" series resumes tonight, and this installment should be extra-special. Dubbed "Return of the Impressionists," the soiree will include tours of the new Impressionist Galleries, plus live music by E6 & Roan, theatrical performances by Collaboraction, appetizers and cocktails. 6-10PM, $15-$20.

BRAZILIAN BEATS: Talented local trio Bossa Tres performs not once, but twice tonight. Get swept away by the group's samba and bossa nova rhythms, first at Lincoln Park's Las Tablas, a spirited Colombian steakhouse, from 7:30-10:30, then at Ole Tapas Lounge, a Latin American-fusion restaurant located about a block south on Lincoln Avenue from 10:30PM on. No cover.

FRESH START: "New Year, New You," a benefit for the Step Up Women's Network, takes place at the Gold Coast's Le Passage & The Drawing Room tonight. The event features a Veev acai spirit-hosted bar (from 10-11PM), light fare, DJ sets and a raffle. The first 100 guests will receive premium gift bags. 10PM, $10, RSVP required for hosted bar: rsvp@lepassage.com.
