What You're Doing Today: Thanksgiving Eve Edition

It's all about locally grown talent, from food to beer to rap phenoms.

We've already reported extensively on Black Wednesday bar parties, but clubs aren't your only option to get the holidays started right. Celebrate Thanksgiving Eve (and hopefully a truncated day at work!) with these Chicago-centric happenings.

Grab the last-minute ingredients for your Thanksgiving feast at the Green City Winter Market at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum today. You'll find organic, locally grown fruits and veggies, plus cheeses, meat, baked goods and traditional holiday items. You might even stumble upon a chef's demo or a tasting, so give thanks. 8AM-1PM, free.

Keep your Black Wednesday carousing classy (or make a pit stop before you go clubbing) at Lush Wine and Spirits in Roscoe Village, which is hosting a tasting of Bourbon County Stout, local brewery Goose Island's latest release. Goose brewmaster Greg Hall will be on hand to explain the tasting notes of this hearty beer. 6PM-9PM, free.

Check out hometown sensation Kid Sister at Metro tonight, joined by Flosstradamus (featuring Kid Sister's big brother) and The Hood Internet. We can only assume the sassy rap star is expected at home for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. 7PM, $16.
