What You're Doing Today: Thanksgiving Edition

Chicago's Thanksgiving parade, a European outdoor market, local hip-hop stars

GOBBLE IT UP: The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade ain't got nothin' on us. The 75th annual McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade will kick off today at 8AM and march its way down State Street. Celebrate the start of the holiday season with the Jesse White Tumbling Team, marching bands galore, floats, helium balloons and cast members from the Chicago productions of "Dirty Dancing" and "Jersey Boys." 8-11AM, free.

FAIRYTALE CHRISTMAS: After the parade, head over to Daley Plaza for the start of the annual Christkindlmarket, an open-air market straight out of a Bavarian village. Hosted by the German American Chamber of Commerce, you'll find charming handmade items, such as ornaments, accessories, clothing and gift items from more than 50 vendors. Also on hand: German treats like beer, hot spiced wine, brats, potato pancakes and pastries (just leave some room for your Thanksgiving dinner). 11AM-4PM, free.

SO FRESH AND SO CLEAN: If you're all tuckered out from turkey and family tonight, make a break for it and head to Funky Buddha Lounge for the Project Fr3sh Thanksgiving Day Jam. The Chicago hip-hop group Project Fr3sh will perform cuts off its new EP, "The Get Fr3sh Show Int3rmission." 10PM-2AM, $10 cover. RSVP required at nate@musicmindrecords.com.
