HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR. KING: Celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King today at the Chicago History Museum. Performances by the Loyola University Chicago Gospel Choir, storytelling and a reading of King's landmark "I Have a Dream" speech will commemorate the special day. 11AM-2PM, free.

GET MENTAL: Check out the "Mental Graffiti" poetry set at Butterfly Social Club in River West. This open mic night, which takes place the third Monday of every month, hosts local and national spoken word performers and slam poets. Tonight's featured artist is Will Evans. Drink specials include $3 Half Acre Ales and $5 vodka cocktails. 7:30PM, $5.

OBAMANIACS: Clandestine Industries will unveil its new Obama Force 1 sneaker at Angels & Kings' pre-inauguration bash tonight. DJ White Shadow and Major Taylor will be keeping the presidential beat. 10PM, no cover.
