What You're Doing Today (and Tonight): Feb. 22

See topical dance, pre-party before the Oscars, watch the awards in style

WAR AND PEACE: Watch experimental dance-theater troupe chelfitsch in its Chicago debut. "Five Days in March," based on a young couple's lives as Japan prepares to join the U.S. and Britain in the 2003 Iraq invasion, juxtaposes the patterns of everyday actions with the big picture of world history. At the Museum of Contemporary Art, 3PM, $25.

BEFORE THE BIG SHOW: Set the TiVo for the Academy Awards and head to May Street Market's Pre-Oscars Reception and Fundraiser benefitting the Access Christian Academy for Children with Disabilities. The event will feature wine and appetizers, plus a silent auction, all before the big movie awards get handed out. 5-8PM, $60-$75.

HOLLYWOOD GLAM: If you're going to watch the Oscars, why not do it in style at the Base Bar in the Hard Rock Hotel? Sip Little Black Dress Wines and themed cocktails featuring Le Tourment Absinthe, such as "The Curious Case of Absinthe." Play Oscars trivia for an overnight stay at the trendy property. 5-11PM, no cover.
