What You're Doing Tonight: Dec. 28

A Kwanzaa celebration, a Chinese dance troupe and the Uptown Poetry Slam

KWANZAA CONTINUES: A brunch and a live performance by the People's Jazz Theatre make up "Kwanzaa Karamu: A Celebration of Cultural Heritage" at the DuSable Museum of African-American History today. 2PM, $12-$15 for brunch only, $15-$20 for performance only, $25-$30 for both.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR: Divine Performing Arts, a troupe that performs classical Chinese dance and music around the world, presents a "Chinese New Year Spectacular" at the Civic Opera House today. The show features more than a dozen dancers plus vocalists and a full orchestra. 2PM, $38-$198.

HOLIDAY ANGST: The venerable Uptown Poetry Slam, hosted by Marc Smith at the Green Mill for the last 20-some years, should be especially fruitful tonight as wordsmiths work out their ruminations on the holidays and other topics on stage. 7PM, $6.
