What Floats Your Boat?

Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoors Show kicks off Wednesday

It's hard to get too excited about boats, RVs and other outdoor recreation when there are chunks of ice bigger than your bedroom floating on the lake.  But checking out the latest toys in the boating industry just might inject the dose of summer you need in the middle of a bone-chilling January. The 79th annual Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoors Show opens at McCormick Place Wednesday, Jan. 14, lasting until Sunday, Jan. 18.

While purchasing a boat may be the last line item on your budget (ok – it's nowhere near being on your budget), this year's show features an “Affordability Pavilion” showcasing more affordable boats that can be financed for $350 or less.  Learn about eco-friendly boating tips and check out the Huck Finn Trout Pond where kids 12 and under can fish an indoor pond stocked with trout.  More than 500 boats will be showcased at the show, as well as the latest RVs and outdoor recreation merchandise.  So while you might not be able to play with these toys outside for quite some time, the room temperature confines of the McCormick Place will work just fine.
