Weekend: Get Off on the SOFA

ARTSY FUN: One of the most anticipated art fairs of the year goes down this weekend at Navy Pier's Festival Hall. But the 17th annual SOFA Chicago is even bigger this year, sharing space with the Intuit Show of Folk and Outsider Art. One $15 tickets gets you into both fairs and the various lecture series, special exhibits and events. Friday-Sun, Tickets $15-$25

INDIAN STYLE: The popular long-running First Fridays at the Museum of Contemporary Art takes on a Bollywood theme this month with a bindi bar, henna tattoos, Bollywood dancers the food and cocktails from Wolfgang Puck’s. Get down to the live DJ while checking out the art and young professionals in the crowd. After-party goes down at The Underground. 6-10 pm, 220 East Chicago Ave, $10-$18

LIGHT IT UP: If you're not ready to start thinking about the holidays, it's about that time. Macy's presents the Great Tree Lighting Saturday with pop singer Katherine McPhee. It all goes down in the Walnut Room, on the 7th floor of the State Street store. 11:45 a.m., 111 N. State St.

NECESSARY TABOOS: This free art/fashion event goes down Saturday at creative lounge CHICAGO. It showcases the talent of 17 designers and stylists from Chicago and abroad as they create art-fashion pieces exploring the forbidden. Each designer has created a single piece of wearable art centered on the theme of taboo, which should make for an interesting night. 7-10 p.m., 1564 N. Damen, FREE

BEST BET: Watch the girl go up against the big boys when Zenyatta attempts to win the Breeder's Cup on Saturday. But if you don't have a ticket to Louisville's Churchill Downs, you can still get in a day of live racing and watch the big event simulcast from Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, IL. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: If you can't make the Glory Days celebration Friday night, the party with the 1985 Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears continues on Sunday with a Glory Days football party at Bull & Bear.
