Watch Well-Known Chicagoans Try Not to Bomb

New TV show puts rookie comics live on stage

A new Chicago show promises to bring the funny -- depending on what side of the equation you're on.

WTTW and Zanies Comedy Club is teaming up for "The Chicago Stand up Project," a show taped in front of a live studio audience that features local celebs attempting standup comedy for the first time.

The first show will be taped Friday and features former White Sox star Ron Kittle and Susanna Negovan, the Editor in Chief of Michigan Avenue Magazine.

"This is the scariest thing I've ever done, but I have a great comedy coach -- Pat McGann -- who for some reason thinks I'm ready to do this. We'll find out Friday night!" Negovan says.

The show will be broadcast at a later date on WTTW-TV -- whether they bomb or not.

April 23, 8:30 p.m., 1548 N. Wells St., 312-337-4027, $22
