If you're craving something beyond cheap beer and hot wings for your Super Bowl viewing pleasure this year, look beyond the blase sports bars and into Brasserie Jo. Yep, the classic River North bistro is throwing a bash for the Big Game (even though the French think football is soccer).
On Sunday, Feb. 1 from 4PM until close, Brasserie Jo will air the Super Bowl on the restaurant's big-screen TV and serve a festive menu by acclaimed chef Jean Joho. The three-course menu, which is priced at $14.95, offers a French-style hot dog (not to be confused with a Chicago-style dog), served with Dijon mustard and pommes frites (that's French fries, btw); a choice of onion soup gratinee made with gruyere cheese or New England clam chowder; and chocolate mousse as a sweet finish for all -- no matter who wins the game.
Brasserie Jo's selection of beers fit in with typical football fan tradition (on both sides of the pond, actually). The "biere de la brassserie," made by local brewery Two Brothers, is the featured house brew at $5. Vive la France!
