Suburban Trick-or-Treater Injured in Hit-and-Run

A boy trick-or-treating in a northern suburb was struck Wednesday night by a vehicle that didn't stop, according to a neighbor who witnessed the crash.

The 10-year-old boy was taken to a Advocate Condell Medical Center after being hit by an out-of control driver around 8 p.m. in the 200 block of Pond Ridge.

Witnesses said a vehicle lost control and hit a curb and a mailbox, swerving a few pedestrians.

Officials later confirmed the victim was found conscious and breathing at the scene, thoug Fire paramedicts began treatment immediately. He was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday night.

According to a statement released by the police, the vehicle is described as a gray Nissan or Lexus 4-door with tinted windows. The vehicle sustained damage on the front-passenger side, as a result of this incident, police stated.

Police are looking for the hit-and-run suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police immediately.
