Tornado Benefit Tickets Removed From Resell Sites

5,000 free tickets sold out in about 45 minutes

Officials at a central Illinois concert venue are asking ticket-selling websites to take down third-party listings for this month's tornado benefit concert by the band Chicago.

The Journal Star reports the 5,000 free tickets sold out in about 45 minutes Tuesday and began showing up on resell websites. Some tickets were listed for as much as $261.

The Grammy-winners are set to perform Jan. 29 at Bloomington's U.S. Cellular Coliseum in a benefit to raise money for recovery efforts for the fatal Nov. 17 twisters that raked across Illinois.

Representatives from StubHub and TicketLiquidator say they've removed the listings.

Meanwhile, about 500 additional tickets to the show are being distributed through the Red Cross to people who were affected by the storms.
