They Call it the Super Bowl for a Reason

It's because of the food! Your fave restos can make your SB bash delish

Who wants to cook for their own party? Certainly not us. So, we're thrilled that more and more of our favorite Chicago restaurants are cooking up catering menus for all of the Super Bowl bashes that will be taking place on Sunday, Feb. 1. Whether you're a die-hard Steelers fan, are rooting for the Cardinals or just want to watch the commercials, you'll have plenty of gloriously indulgent fare to go along with the Big Game.

Wicker Park's Smoke Daddy is your go-to spot for delectable barbecue, and the restaurant is offering lots of meal packages (including plates, napkins, silverware, serving utensils and chafing dishes) available for carryout and delivery on Super Bowl Sunday. Entrees such as a rib sampler ($17.75-$19.75 per person, based on number of guests), pulled meat ($8.25-$10.50) and the "Ultimate Tailgater Package" (spare or baby back ribs with choice of two pulled meats, $14.75-$17.25) will keep your football fans full. All dinners include two side dishes, such as smoked pit beans, cornbread, mac 'n' cheese, cole slaw and barbecue potato chips.

Whether you have them delivered or pick them up yourself, supersized party trays from Lakeview's Chen's Chinese and Sushi and Evanston's Koi will be sure-fire crowd pleasers. Available is an array of fun finger foods, from spicy chicken wings ($18) and maki ($40) and sushi ($90) selections, to fried rice trays ($29.95), lo mein noodles ($32) and a variety of Chinese dishes ($39.95-$59.95). Order up an appetizer tray ($19.95) with spring rolls, pot stickers and crabmeat won tons.

For a south-of-the-border-themed Super Bowl soiree, bring home guacamole and chips ($7-$13), ropa vieja ($9), empanadas ($7-$8 each) and Spanish meats and cheeses (a selection serves four, $25), all available as carryout items from Carnivale, River West's popular Latin-fusion dining destination.

Wildfire's five Chicagoland locations (River North, Glenview, Lincolnshire, Schaumburg and Oak Brook) will be serving up party platters of signature Wildfire dishes for carryout and delivery. The party platter menu features such faves as barbecued baby back ribs ($149.95) and spit-roasted herb chicken ($89.95), plus plenty of starters, salads, pastas and desserts. Each platter serves eight to 10 people.

University Village's Kohan Japanese Restaurant recently unveiled its extensive catering menu just in time for Super Bowl XLIII. Choose from party trays offering various selections of sushi rolls ($45-$82), sushi-and-maki combo trays ($75-$120), 12-piece maki combo platters ($6-$8) and rice bowl dishes ($8-$10).

What's a Super Bowl party without pizza? Get your pie from La Madia, where for every four pizzas ordered for carryout, the River North resto will throw one in for free. Need eight? You'll get two free, and so on, depending on the size of your crowd (both literally and figuratively).
