The Theater-Going Experience: House of Pain or Pleasure?

Chris Jones, theater critic for the Chicago Tribune, posted an interesting story yesterday about customer service at Chicago's theaters. According to the column, Chicago's Shakespeare, Lookingglass and Victory Gardens theaters treat their ticketholders with TLC, offering everything from attentive ushers to discounted parking.

On the down side are the Royal George, the Garage at Steppenwolf, Profiles Theatre and American Theater Company. Among their sins: shabby surroundings (Royal George and the Garage) and delayed start times (Profiles and American). As would be expected, Jones' observations spurred many a response.

Which got us thinking, what Chicago movie theaters offer above-and-beyond customer service and those extras that make the cinematic experience oh-so special? Are you a fan of the larger-than-life screens at the Navy Pier IMAX Theatre? Love the high-brow fare at the Gene Siskel Film Center?
