The Week in Fashion

See what Chicago's style mavens have penciled in their social calendars

Fashionistas, you'll have several chances this week to strut your stuff. Read on to find out where Chicago's most stylish residents can be found socializing in the next several days.

On Wednesday, May 6, the American Cancer Society's Women's Board will host its 24th annual Fashion Show & Luncheon at the opulent Chicago Hilton & Towers (720 S. Michigan Ave.). This year's event packs a high-profile punch: Maria Pinto will be the featured designer and honorary chair and will show her fall 2009 collection during a much-anticipated runway show. The event kicks off at 11AM with a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle and continues with the runway presentation and lunch. Tickets are $125 per person or $500 for a private V.I.P. reception with Pinto.

Also on Wednesday, May 6, the much-loved home design and personal luxury store Material Possessions (704 N. Wabash Ave.) will host "Brides & Baubles," a shopping event for the recently betrothed (or not) showcasing Material Possessions' in-store registry items and the launch of local designer Erin Gallagher's custom jewelry collection. The soiree, which will go from 5:30-7:30PM, will benefit the Glass Slipper Project. Guests are encouraged to bring gently used bridesmaid/formal dresses and accessories to go to this organization, which provides prom attire for low-income Chicago high school students.

Check out Bravo's new "Project Runway" replacement, "The Fashion Show," with other trendsetters when the show debuts this Thursday, May 7. The Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club (3700 N. Halsted St.) will be throwing a viewing party, complete with a themed menu courtesy of chef Matt Stovey. Enjoy the "Isaac Mizrahi," chilled tomato gazpacho with avocado and sour cream ($6), or the "Kelly Rowland," grilled chicken served over portobello mushroom ravioli ($22), two dishes named after the show's hosts. Drink specials include $5 you-call-it VOX Vodka cocktails and Cruzan Rum mojitos, as well as half-price bottles of wine with the purchase of two entrees. "The Fashion Show" will air at 9PM on five gold-framed, large-screen TVs, and the "Kit Kat Divas" will perform throughout the night.
