A 15-year-old boy is dead Wednesday after a shooting on the South Side in the Englewood neighborhood.
The shooting occurred about 12:30 p.m. at 77th and Carpenter streets, according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien, possibly following an altercation.
The teenage boy was shot in the chest and died on the scene, O’Brien said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that a 15-year-old boy had been fatally shot, but was not releasing his name as of 2:30 p.m.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating but they did not immediately have any details on the shooting as of about 2:20 p.m.
