Tear Up the Runway

Plus, movies and music festival

DENIM WISHES: It's out with the old and in with the new when Sofia Vintage teams up with Make a Wish Foundation for a fashion show featuring professional denim looks. And the best part is, some of the kids actually did some of the designs! It all goes down at Rockit Bar and Grill, who's kicking in some free apps and a DJ. 6:30 p.m., 22 W. Hubbard, $30 at the door.

SCHOOLED ON THE RUNWAY: If you think Project Runway is intense, see who makes the cut when student designers compete on the runway at Macy's. The Chicago Fashion Foundation's scholarship benefit will grant three scholarships after the finalists present their designs to a panel of judges. Promises to be fierce! 6 p.m., 111 N. State St. $25

MOVIES AND MUSIC: The Chicago International Movies and Music Festival kicks off tonight with the Chicago premiere of the film Universalove scored live by the band Naked Lunch and followed by a Q&A with director Thomas Woschitz and Naked Lunch. CIMMfest Festival Passes allow for access to live performances and screenings. Click here for tickets, schedule and locations.
