Taste Wines From One of Germany's Oldest Vineyards

D.O.C. Wine Bar in Lombard hosts a Valckenberg Wine Dinner

On Wednesday, March 25, wine lovers can taste a bit of history. D.O.C. Wine Bar's Lombard location at The Shops on Butterfield is presenting a dinner with Valckenberg, one of Germany's oldest family-owned and -operated wineries.

Located in the Medieval town of Worms on the west bank of the Rhine River, Valckenberg boasts 500-year-old vines and historical structures dating from the Middle Ages. It is from these scenic surroundings that the Valckenberg family has been making wines since 1786. You can taste the fruits of their labor paired with a menu by D.O.C. chef Andrew Jenrich during this special dinner, which will be attended by Valckenberg representative Nancy Peach and German wine specialist Trish Early from Louis Glunz Wines.

Several Valckenberg varietals will be showcased during the five-course dinner, including three different rieslings. Jenrich will prepare dishes with flavors that complement the wines, such as a beef Szechwan salad with lemongrass, tomatoes and watercress; a sashimi trio with hamachi, tuna and salmon; and a duck breast glazed with raspberry barbecue sauce.

The Valckenberg wine dinner will take place at 7PM and is $65 per person to attend. Call D.O.C. Wine Bar at 630-627-6666 to reserve your spot.
