Cupcake Craze Sprinkles Into Chicago

Famous cupcake shop hits Gold Coast

Just when we thought the cupcake craze was dying down, comes more proof that it's only just begun.

The cupcake company that single-handedly started the cupcake craze back in 2005 in Beverly Hills, Sprinkles Cupcakes, has decided to open its first location in the Midwest, and they chose Chicago (and the fancy schmancy Gold Coast region no less) to call their home.

What's so special about these little pieces of heaven, anyway? Let's start with the fact that batches of Sprinkles cupcakes are baked throughout the day in small quantities, so they’re fresh when you pick them up, and they use some of the finest ingredients available -- think Madagascar vanilla bean and the finest chocolate on the market.

Pair that with a list of mouth-watering flavors like Banana, Chai Latte, Coconut and Black and White cake, topped with rich creamy frosting, and you’ve officially blown your diet. But they’re so good, you won’t be able to resist.

Each cupcake is topped with a modern sugar dot that is color-coded to match its flavor. And with a rotating menu of daily flavors, you’ll be on a constant sugar high. Just like the other six locations across the country, we’re sure they’ll be a steady line of people clamouring to get their mitts on a cupcake, so be prepared to wait for your cake.

Trust us, some things are just worth waiting for.

50 East Walton, 312-573-1600. Giuliana and Bill Rancic will be serving at the store July 26 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
