Solving the Good Friday Dining Dilemma

Stellar seafood deals are offered in honor of "No Meat Day"

Sure, you might not be able to eat meat on Good Friday, but you still have a social life, right? (It is still the weekend, after all.) Whether you're dining out with family or friends, have a great meal this Good Friday at two restaurants that offer excellent seafood dishes all year, but will feature them at discounts just for the occasion. Hey, anything to help your karma, right?

At Nacional 27 in River North, a variety of ceviches always stars on the Latin American fusion menu. Featuring citrus-marinated seafood, the various ceviche dishes include shrimp and scallops, hamachi-mojito, rainbow coctel and the restaurant's signature ahi tuna with watermelon. On Good Friday from 5-8PM, guests can enjoy a complimentary ceviche appetizer per table. And, if you happen to have a date on Good Friday (bonus!), stick around for Nacional 27's weekly "Miami Nights" party with dancing, a DJ and live Latin percussion. The cover charge is waived for dining guests.

At the family-friendly Tin Fish in Tinley Park, guests can find an array of seafood dishes to skirt any Good Friday dining issues. Just to make it even easier (not to mention enticing), a Good Friday Fish Fry will take place at Tin Fish from 4:30-10PM, offering a combination of perch, whitefish and cod served with French fries, homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce for $17.99. A second helping can be yours for $5.99. Tin Fish is also in the midst of its smelt season menu (offered throughout April), which features this Midwestern delicacy dressed up as an appetizer (French-fried Lake Michigan smelt with homemade tartar sauce, $5.99) and a lunch sandwich (fried smelt served on a hoagie roll with chips and coleslaw, $6.99).
