Firefighters have made "several rescues" of residents of a South Side building that was fully engulfed in flames Tuesday afternoon.
As of about 12:50 p.m. firefighters are still fighting a fire at 4749 S. Laflin St., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis.
The one-and-a-half story building was fully involved in flames and several rescues have been made, he said.
At least one person has been taken to a hospital so far, he said. At least four ambulances have responded to the scene.
