Secession Vote Expect in 3 Cook County Suburbs

Despite a recent vote by the Cook County Board to cut operating expenses rather than burden taxpayers with a multi-million dollar loan, there are still townships in the county who are soon to vote on whether they'll secede from Cook County.

The three northwest suburbs of Palatine, Barrington and Hanover Park are asking residents to vote on the issue on April 7. The ballots won't be binding, the Chicago Tribune reports, and even if they were, a majority of votes from all of Cook County would be needed to allow the renegade townships to form their own county or join another.
