For months, you've pedaled through slush, through snow, through piles of frigid puke. You've dodged plows, and you've run afoul of a few errant snowshovels. But it's getting to be summer, dear Chicago bicyclist, and your perseverance has paid off. June 11, Schubas will tip its helmet to the power of the pedal by hosting a free Bike Bash.
Bike Bash gathers several local bike shops, who'll offer two-wheel tune-ups, bike demos, and gnarly scar viewings starting at 1:00 p.m. on the 11th. All-gal BMX troupe The Racketeers will do their thing in the Schubas parking lot, while DJs ROAN and E-Six will soundtrack the rotating of tires with the spinning of records. There'll be a bike drive to help donate your old gear to somebody who needs it, a raffle with bikes and bike merch, Schubas gift certificates and other cool stuff, and—provided you've got a designated peddler with you—all the $2 Schlitz you can drink. Again, entry's free, but if you RSVP right here you'll get yourself a free entry in the Bike Bash raffle.
