Someone is running a scam under the well-known name "Publisher's Clearing House."
Authorities say unsuspecting people are receiving bogus letters claiming they've won money. Before they can claim the prize, however, the "winners" need to send a check.
Legitimate sweepstakes don't require winners to pay handling fees or other charges.
