Rare Nethergate Beers Hit O&E Taps

While we're mostly concerned with what's on the plate at restaurants across the city—wine, beer, and booze are equally important. Here, notable news for sippers and guzzlers alike:

Dogfish Head Brunch at SmallBar Fullerton: Mimosas not quite your thing? This Saturday, Delaware craft brewers Dogfish Head team up with SmallBar Fullerton for a beer brunch. Four dishes will be paired with four beers, but all the beers and dishes are available a la carte. Expect pours of Bitches Brew, My Antonia, Midas Touch, and more. If you can't make it this Saturday, or even if you can, the entire event will repeat next week at SmallBar Division.

Nethergate Nerd-Out at Owen & Engine: An English pub is the perfect venue to host rare beers from Nethergate, the Real Ale specialists. Owen & Engine somehow got its hands on Old Growler English Porter and Azzarat Blonde, and will be pairing them with a special grilled acorn squash and pancetta dish. Tapping starts at 5 P.M. More information is available on Facebook.

Spiaggia Hosts Champagne Challenge: Next Saturday, Nov. 12, Spiaggia will host its first ever champagne event, featuring growers' champagnes and sparkling wines from France and Italy. Newly-appointed sommelier Jason Carlen will lead a blind tasting, and Top Chef contestant Sarah Grueneberg will prepare small savory bites. The cost is $125 per person and spots can be reserved by calling 312-280-2750.
