Raise a Stein to Berghoff's Oktoberfest

25th annual festival kicks off Wednesday

While it's not clear why Oktoberfest celebrations kick off in mid-September, Germans, or those willing to pretend to be one for a day, aren't complaining about getting schnitzel-faced a few days early.

The 25th annual Berghoff Oktoberfest gets underway Wednesday on Federal Plaza at Adams and Dearborn Streets.

The free three-day celebration offers German food, beer and live music every day through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Johnny Wagner Band performs each day from 11:30 a.m to 2 p.m., and a different band plays each day from 5-9 p.m., including Maggie Speaks (Wednesday), Sixteen Candles (Thursday) and Sorry for Partying (Friday).
