Raise a Glass of Vino — It's Eno's Birthday

To celebrate it's second anniversary, Eno, the upscale-yet-unpretentious wine bar in the InterContinental Chicago, is offering you the birthday gifts. Wine directors Scott Harney and Jennifer Bingham are bringing out the big bottles during Eno's anniversary week, January 16-19.

Christened "magnum week," Eno will be pouring a variety of wines by the glass at discounted prices. The party gets started with a bang on Friday, Jan. 16 as a hard-to-come-by magnum of Graham Beck Brut is uncorked. Glass pours of this sparkling wine favored by Michelle Obama will be $10 a pop. Additional rare wines that will be offered as glass pours (priced at $10-$20) from impressive magnum bottles include a 1999 Armando Parusso Nebbiolo blend ($12) and a 1999 Elio Altare L'Insieme Cabernet blend ($20).

Eno's fun blind tasting program -- you answer questions on varietal, region, age, etc. for points -- gets a celebratory spin, as well. On Sunday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 19, the higher your scores on the blind tasting are, the better your chances for scoring a $355 bottle of 2004 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir. Which means it's time to study, but the research will be enjoyable.
