Police have charged a 23-year-old Des Plaines man with criminal trespassing and criminal damage to property after the suspect was cut free from a restaurant vent and nearly died.
Earlier this month, Jimm Rodriguez got his head stuck in a vent on the roof of the closed Little Amsterdam restaurant. He was there for about 24-hours before being discovered by the building's landlord during a routine inspection of the property.
Emergency personnel cut the vent leading to the rooftop, where Rodriguez apparently began his effort to enter the restaurant, and pulled Rodriguez out. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he remains hospitalized Friday.
The Daily Herald reported that the landlord "was startled to see a man's head and arms sticking from the vent over the restaurant's kitchen stove." Upon seeing the landlord, Rodriquez asked him to call police.
