Plan Your Summer at the Beach

Chicago Sport and Social Club's summer activities

The Chicago Sport and Social Club has plans for you this summer.

Registration for the club's seasonal sports leagues is now open, but there's a number of other ways to get in the spirit on and off the beach.

June 18th is the kickoff of Sunset Jams at Castaways on North Avenue Beach featuring the classic rap stylings of Too White Crew. All b-boys and fly girls can also take advantage of the $25 bar package which includes Coors Light, Absolut, Jameson and Malibu cocktails. Additional concerts will be held throughout the summer.

Volleywood is easily the biggest party of the year on the beach. The all-day volleyball tournament was topped off last year with a performance by none other than MC Hammer, but this year's performer has yet to be announced. Most importantly, it's the only day of the year you can legally drink on the beach. (July 10)

Wind your way through Chicago's streets for the annual City Chase competition scheduled for August 21. The Amazing Race-style competition forces competitors to do everything from milking a cow, to rapelling at Navy Pier or strip bowling.

After all, everyone will be looking for a unique way to handle the heat.
