What attracting me to this woman was the silhouette of her coat, the bright red pops of color, and her striking facial features. I am also a sucker for designer labels and she is carrying an Yves Saint Laurent handbag.

I was immediately drawn to her because of her bold red Givenchy coat with fur trim. She expertly styled her look around this one central piece, choosing black pants and wedge booties to maintain the focus on her outerwear.

I love this photo because it represents a memorable moment I shared with Mr. Newton who is one of my favorite street style photographers. He set up this shot with a model leaving the Vena Cava runway show at Milk Studios and graciously allowed me to work alongside him to learn more about directing street style subjects.

I photographed Jessica Schroeder not only because she runs one of the most popular fashion blogs, What I Wore, but because I love when women know how to mix prints. Here, she paired a leopard print skirt with a black and cream graphic print blouse.

People who aren’t afraid to take fashion risks interest me, so I naturally find myself drawn to extreme looks. This subject incorporates a number of different textures into her look, including an amethyst choker, pink feathered knit sweater, and transparent yellow shirt.

The unique earthy look created by her teal handmade poncho and silver jewelry is something I would expect to see in Santa Fe, not New York. I was inspired by this woman because of how different she looked from all the other people at Lincoln Center.

I was intrigued by how she demonstrated both restraint by donning a gray jumpsuit, and extravagance with her floral appliqué wedge heels and sunglasses. Her green turban, with its unexpected pop of color, draws viewers’ eyes to her beautiful face and high cheekbones.

He has color blocking in place, it's very preppy. He defenitely has a concept at work and he definitely didn't just wake up and throw this on.

And I loved his Christmas socks!

Oak Park teenager Tavi Gevinson is one of the biggest voices in fashion today, and is frequently cited in fashion magazines for her unique personal style. I was excited to finally capture a street style photograph of The Style Rookie because she is rarely seen out on the streets in Chicago, although hopefully that will change as she gets older.

What drew me to this woman was her layered knits and how well her lipstick matches the shade of her red top.

A beautiful woman can never go wrong with a polished menswear-inspired ensemble. Although she is wearing strictly brown and black, her fedora, glasses, and fur accents create enough textural interest to make her look visually interesting.

This photographer was violating street style protocol by interfering with everyone else’s shot. I decided to include him in the photograph so I wouldn’t miss the shot of Iman, who looks spectacular next to her equally fabulous friend, stylist June Ambrose.

I took Adam Sinding’s photograph for two reasons; first, because I love his avant-garde Rick Owens look; and secondly, because he is the photographer behind the premier street style website Le21emeArrondissement.com.

This man’s equestrian-themed ensemble was different from anything I had seen at New York Fashion Week. Although it slightly ventured into costume territory, it was reminiscent of the Hermès Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Rumi Neely and Bryan Boy are two of the biggest personalities in fashion blogging. I personally am a huge fan of Rumi’s San Diego-based personal style blog, Fashion Toast, so it was fantastic to have the opportunity to finally photograph her.
