As kids prepare their Christmas lists for Santa Claus, the United States Postal Service is getting ready to kick off the annual Operation Santa program next month.
The program, one of the largest in the country, helps thousands of area families, as people adopt letters and respond to kids penning notes to Santa Claus. Volunteers respond to the letters and help to make the wishes of children come true around the holiday season, especially those from the less fortunate.
The Postal Service is asking parents whose children are penning letters to send in the lists to Operation Santa no later than Dec. 1. They are also asking parents to make sure the return address is correct, and if possible, to include a phone number with the lette3r.
The letters for Operation Santa can be sent to:
433 W. Harrison Street
Chicago, IL 60699
