Two officers catch man after witnessing shooting

Two off-duty cops captured a man after he allegedly shot and killed someone in Pilsen, police said.

Marcelino Sauseda, 25, has been charged with murder after an off-duty Cook County Sheriff's police officer and a Chicago police officer arrested him Saturday afternoon.

Police said the Chicago police officer saw Sauseda shoot at a van from his personal car.  The off-duty officer chased down Sauseda, who was trying to flee, according to police. The sheriff's police officer helped catch the suspect and a weapon was recovered, police said.

The victim,19-year-old Jeff Maldonado, had been shot in the head and was taken to John Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
