NYE Fashion: Beyond the Little Black Dress

Mix and match for the big night

The fancy New Year's Eve dress doesn't have to be a dress.

Experts say the biggest party night of the year leaves plenty of room for experimentation with your outfit.

"I'd rather have a closet where I can mix and match things," says Chicago designer Ashley Zygmunt, who encourages women to consider pants and skirts. "Whether it be short or long, you can add tights or boots or wear it with heels. It's all about being a little different when you go to that holiday party, and you can even wear the same shirt twice and style it in different ways.

Zygmunt is one of the designers featured at a North Side boutique called Local Lookbook, which features clothing and accessories from local emerging designers.

Her line of blouses, Zamrie, espouses her personal fashion philosphy.

"I think every woman wants to be classy, and sexy and versatile, so that's what I try to bring with the Zamrie brand."
