Will County sheriff's police and animal control officers this week removed 40 dogs and six cats from the home of an elderly couple amid concerns for the animals' well-being, according to the Southtown Star.
Sheriff's spokesman Pat Barry said police were notified by animal control earlier this week of a "possible puppy mill or animal neglect situation." The propertly belonging to the Homer Township couple in their 80s, consists of a house and some outbuildings.
