Mom's Worth That Meal

An OpenTable survey finds restaurants offering freebies for Mother's Day

Several Chicago restaurants are offering ways to sweeten the deal this Mother's Day. OpenTable, the online restaurant reservation service, conducted a nationwide survey to see if the recession is affecting Mother's Day plans this year. It turns out our love for Mom outweighs any financial concerns, with 75 percent of matriarchs planning on dining out with loved ones this Mother's Day, one of the biggest dining out days of the year. This number actually reflects a jump from 2008, when only 57 percent of respondents said they were taking their poor mothers out to eat.

The OpenTable survey also identified several restaurants that will be luring diners with incentives, offering freebies such as champagne, flowers and even massages. Here is a list of some of the Chicago eateries that are featuring special promotions that will make your mom feel like a queen and make you look like a model son or daughter (without having to take out a small loan).
