Metra Electric Line Closures Could Impact Weekend Travellers

The Metra Electric Line will have altered service schedules Nov. 3 and 4

Station closures could impact Metra customers leaving downtown next weekend, the agency announced Friday.

According to Metra officials, construction on a pedestrian bridge at 41st Street will close numerous stations on the Electric and South Chicago lines on Nov. 3 and 4. Those stations will include Van Buren and Museum Campus, which will close beginning at 11:30 p.m. on the 3rd and won’t reopen until 6:30 a.m. the next morning.

18th Street, McCormick Place, 27th Street, and 47th Street will also be closed to complete the project.

The agency says that customers will be bussed from Millennium Station to the 51st Street station, where they will continue onto their destinations.

South Chicago Branch trains 8337, leaving Millennium Station at 10:40 p.m., will be canceled on Saturday night, and trains 8301 and 8302 on Sunday morning will also be canceled.

Metra Electric Line trains 802 and 803 are expected to experience significant delays.
