Man Fatally Shot on Lakefront Bike Path: Police

A man was shot and killed Monday night at the lakefront in Rogers Park on the North Side, police said.

At 10:20 p.m., the 24-year-old man was walking on the Loyola Park bike path near Lunt Avenue when someone opened fire, according to Chicago police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced at the scene, police said.

No one was in custody early Tuesday as detectives conducted a homicide investigation.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details about the fatality.

On Sunday, a 73-year-old man was found shot to death several blocks north on Sherwin Avenue.

Police said the shooting might have happened during a robbery.
