Fire Alarm Wakes Up Loyola Students

Authorities investigating cause

Several students at Loyola University got a rude awakening morning.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says a residence hall at the school's North Shore campus was partially evacuated after a fire broke out in a second-floor unit.

No one was injured.

Langford says three people were sleeping in the unit at the time. He says one of the three woke up and then all three managed to escape.

The fire didn't spread beyond the one unit and only the south end of the Rockhurst Hall dorm was temporarily evacuated.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.
