Food for thought while you caffeinate. Plus, what's on the menu for later.
Welcome to your weekend hangover. If you didn't manage to score tickets to one of the biggest concerts of the summer at Pitchfork Music Festival, there were still things to do (albeit way less exciting). Overlooking the countless barbecue restaurants to open within the past month, Uptown held its first Windy City Ribfest. Meanwhile, locals couldn't have been happier for a chance to preview the Chicago Luxury Ice Cream Festival, given the insane temperatures over the weekend. And of course, where there is a party, there is always someone unwanted trying to get in. In this case, the voracious D-list celebrity known as Asian carp is still trying to gain VIP access into Lake Michigan, leading the Indiana Department of Resources to put up barriers of its own. It may be unwanted, but you have to give it credit for persistence.
Stay tuned: Later today we'll tell you how to gain access to Chicago's underground dinner parties, and how to relive one of the biggest parties of the summer with a look back at Pitchfork Music Festival.
