- Chain O' Lakes Warning: You're On Thin Ice -- Fire departments surrounding the Chain O' Lakes are warning snowmobile drivers against riding on the Chain in anticipation of the heavy snow expected Thursday night and again this weekend.
- Bank Robbery Suspect Shot by FBI Denied Bond -- A man shot by an FBI agent after allegedly commandeering a government car and attempting to run over another agent was ordered held without bond Thursday for allegedly robbing a Near North Side bank.
- $1,000 Bond for 'Fortune Teller' -- An northwest suburban woman who allegedly posed as a fortune teller and duped a woman out of $10,000 by saying she would “drive evil spirits” away was ordered held on $1,000 bond Thursday.
- Man Accused of Attempted Robbery of Officer Held on $100K Bond -- One of three suspects who allegedly tried to rob an off-duty Cook County Forest Preserve police officer Monday on the West Side was ordered held on $100,000 bond Thursday.
- NU Student Charged in Alcohol Death of Classmate -- A Northwestern University student has been charged with a felony count of providing alcohol to a minor in connection with the death last summer of another student who died of alcohol poisoning.
- WLS-TV's Andy Shaw to Retire -- Andy Shaw, a mainstay of Chicago media for more than 30 years, is retiring as WLS-Ch. 7's political reporter at the end of January, the Walt Disney Co.-owned ABC station announced Thursday.
- Marijuana Charges Dropped Against State's Atty's Son -- Joe Birkett's son Nicholas, 22, and two other men were charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Naperville in May.
- CPS Gets More Funding for Peace Projects -- An additional $50,000 is being made available to a program aimed at addressing youth violence.
