Length of Avenues' Closing Unknown

Some chefs are easily replaced. Avenues' two Michelin star, James Beard Award nominee Curtis Duffy is not one of them. In an effort to fill his formidable shoes,The Peninsula's Avenues will close for an undetermined length of time following Duffy's last service on September 3. "We know his last day is September 3, and we know absolutely nothing else," says Susan Ellefson, director of communications for The Peninsula. No successor was named in July when Duffy announced he would leave to helm his own West Loop restaurant, and it isn't clear whether Avenues will continue to serve the same progressive, elegant dishes that it did under Duffy's leadership. While we'd like to see Avenues back open soon, we don't envy the task of finding Duffy's replacement. In the meantime, you can still get your fill of Peninsula dining at Shanghai Terrace and Pierrot Gourmet. [The Feast]
