It's Soup for You!

January is National Soup Month – who knew?

January is one long, gray, cold month.  31 miserable days, and we're only on day two.  How's that for a positive outlook?  While we can't very well do much about the weather, we can certainly heat things up by warming our insides.  Lucky for us, January is National Soup Month.  Celebrate all things bubbly and brothy at the KDK restaurants, Marché, Opera and Red Light.  Each restaurant is highlighting one or more savory soup recipes this month.  So bundle up and head out for some soupy goodness.

Marche, 833 West Randolph Street, 312-226-8399, is featuring their signature French onion soup, made with homemade stock, gooey cheese, carmelized onions and soaked croutons. ($6.95)

Opera, 1301 S. Wabash Ave., 312-461-0161, serves up a few Asian-style soups like the duck wonton with shitake mushrooms and choi sum ($7) and a hot & sour soup made with gulf shrimp and BBQ pork ($6).

Red Light
,  820 W. Randolph St., 312-733-8880, makes a savory chao poh taek, a Thai chili spiked coconut broth with prawns, sea scallops and mussels ($7 for cup; $11 for bowl), and the Red light shrimp wonton soup made with rice noodles, bean sprouts and soy-chicken broth with the rock shrimp wonton ($15).
