It's Raining Reindogs

The Chicago Botanic Gardens hosts the Reindog Parade

Most of the time, dogs aren't allowed to run wild and loose in the Chicago Botanic Garden.   For the plants' sake, it's probably much better that way. But for just three hours once a year, dogs rule the gardens at the annual Reindog Parade.

This Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., dogs and their owners are invited to parade behind Santa Claus through 12 gardens.  Dogs and owners will be judged in the following categories: Best Overall Holiday Costume, Best Puppy (under 1) in Costume,  Best Senior (10+) in Costume, Best Horticultural Interpretation and Best Owner Look-alike. Pet supply companies and animal advocacy groups will also be on hand to share information and wares.

You can register online in advance ($14 per dog entered) or register the day of the event ($19).  The event will happen rain or shine, so don't even think about bringing Murphy to the gardens the following day – dogs are only allowed in the gardens for the Reindog Parade.
