Plus DuSable Musuem celebrates MLK Day and some restaurants offer a Haiti relief option

HAITI BENEFIT: The Hideout hosts a Haiti benefit show with all proceeds going to the health-care advocacy group Partners In Health, which is sending medical workers and supplies to the island nation. The show includes performances b the Waco Brothers and Eleventh Dream Day, a bake sale, and a poster sale by Judgeworks. 1354 W. Wabansia Ave.; Noble Square. 8 p.m. $20.

MLK DAY: DuSable Museum Of African American History commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with dance performances, films, and forums scheduled throughout the day. More than 40 years ago, King travelled to Chicago to help wage a campaign to desegregate the city's public schools and housing projects. Most Civil Rights scholars believe King's campaign ended in failure, as King would leave Chicago after meeting with Mayor Richard J. Daley and coming to an agreement that city officials mostly ignored. 740 E. 56th Place; Hyde Park. Check the museum's website for a complete schedule.

EAT OUT: Beginning today, some restaurants will offer customers the choice of adding $1 to their bills that will go to the Heartland Alliance, which is one of many organizations helping Haiti recover from last week's earthquake. Click here for a full list of participating restaurants.
