Headsucker's Ball Turns 20

McGee's serving up 2,000 pounds of crawfish

There'll be plenty of sucking heads Saturday at the 20th Annual Headsucker's Ball at McGees Tavern & Grille (950 West Webster).

It involves 2,000 pounds of live, clicking, crawling, crackling crawfish. For $20 you get all you can eat jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice and of course, fresh peel and eat crawfish.

Along with your live eats, you'll also get live music when Hurricane Gumbo hits the stage at 2 p.m. for a live Zydeco music set.

Insider Info: Don't let the term "ball" fool you. Dress down as casual and as comfortable as you want. It's going to get sloppy as you flick crawfish shells on yourself and your friends, but that's all part of the fun. The first batch is served around noon, the last is served either by the time they run out or around 6:30 p.m.

Suck on that!
