Getting to Love Lulu Mae

Chicago designer creates vintage accessories

Love, as they say, makes the world go round. But did you know love also makes hats?

Introducing Love, Lulu Mae. Love Lulu who? (Yeah, that's what we thought too.)

The latest from Agnes Miles, a Chi-based under-the-radar accessory designer, Love, Lulu Mae is a spankin new line of elegant hair clips, headbands, garter belts and "chapeaux"  -- petite accent hats, sadly not ass-less French motorcycle pants.

Defined by Miles as "ARTcessories for the modern women with the vintage soul," the baubles and headwear draw on inspiration from the '30s and '40s and have recently become popular with the celeb set. (Gwen Stefani and Neko Case are Love, Lulu Mae lovers).

Every one-of-a-kind piece is handmade with unique and hand-dyed feathers, gem stones, flower and leaf accents, along with satin and leather banding. You can mix and match them with cocktail dresses, jeans or even your wedding gown.

Miles models every piece she designs after the chic women of this timeless generation.

"It's more than just vintage. It is a style of an era that represented a turning point for women and what they were capable of enduring," she says.

Through her bold and glamorous collections, Miles strives to empower women to embrace their own unique beauty and a daring sense of style to match. After all, self-confidence never goes out of style.

Pieces range from $40-$200 and are available at lovelulumae.com

Jessica, founder of CheekyChicago.com, is planning her next outfit around her newly purchased Love, Lulu Mae ruby-red feather hair clip.
