Get It On The Record!

Student teams compete for prizes

While much of Chicago was getting their Cinco celebration on last week, a West Loop bar was buzzing with anticipation at the finals for the Red Bull Get It On Record contest.

The contest brought together local student teams from a variety of area schools, comprised of a designer, a photographer and a videographer to put together a creative package for a dancer. The goal was to capture the essence and soul of the dancer through imagery.

Some of the city's best b-boys and foot-workers came out to the Bottom Lounge (1375 West Lake St.) for the final viewing party and judging.

The idea was to produce a portfolio for the dancer that will be used to further their career.

The winning team created a package for a dancer named Torsion. Each team member took home a new Mac laptop.

The second place team worked with a dancer named Naomi, and won Canon cameras for their efforts.

And the third-place team picked took home Flip video cameras for their work with dancer Trae Turner.
