Free Days at MSI

Farmers market days = free museum admission

The Museum of Science and Industry hosts free farmers markets in their east parking lot from June through October on the first and third Fridays of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  After browsing seasonal offerings from local growers and purveyors, enjoy free admission at the MSI.  These markets are put on in conjunction with the Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit at the museum. The next farmer's market/free museum general admission day is Friday, June 19. NAHA chef Carrie Nahabedian will hold a live cooking demonstration at 11:30 a.m. at the market that day.  Check out the MSI's web site for future demonstration guests.
If you haven't visited the Smart Home exhibit, these free days are the perfect opportunity.  You will take a guided tour of a real, three-story modular and sustainable ''green'' home in the museum's backyard, checking out the latest innovations in reusable resources; smart energy consumption; clean, healthy-living environments and relatively simple ways to ''go green.''  There is a still a $10 charge to see the exhibit on general admission free days.  You are not required to attend the museum or exhibit to visit the farmer's market.
